Randy Newman had a song out several years ago entitled "Short People". I'm short, therefore I was offended by it. Don't give me this crap about what he was "trying" to say about the absurdity of any type of prejudice.
Let's change the words....Don't want no Black people around here. Or....Don't want no Gay people around here. Or....Don't want no Mexicans around here.

He says:
"They got little baby legs
And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello"

What if he said,
"They got five black fingers
And five black toes
They play basketball
Them nappy headed ho's"?

Do ya see what I'm saying?
If we're going to scream and cry every single time someone says something offensive and start suing people and getting all this attention, then I want in on it too.
So, on this public forum, I demand that Randy Newman apologize to me.
Who's with me?

Ha...ha...ha...(sobbs)

That's the same cry I'm making too, over the fact that this society has become so freakin' p-c it's not even funny. We're all going to be offended by something at some point in our lives--that's life. In terms of our height, color, race, etc., those are things we are born with, and if we are made fun of because of those, it might not always be fun, but we have to accept it for what it is.

So, to answer your question, no, Randy Newman shouldn't apologize. The odds of him getting on here and talking to you are about the odds of Cindy Sheehan having a personal conversation with President Bush. It just ain't gonna happen. Pull up your bootstraps, little girl!

I get what you are saying for sure! I'm short too. But it's a bit different than calling someone a nappy haired ..... you-know. BTW: Check out some sound tracks that Randy Newman wrote like Pleasantville, Seabiscuit, The Natural, Forrest Gump, amazing stuff. Yah, I could do with out the singing. hehe

All 5'2" of me is with you!

You make a very good point. I used to get teased whenever that song was on, but I didn't care. I believe in freedom of speech for everyone, not only for those that Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson agree with.

God Bless.

When you were growing up, did your mom tell you that there will be a lot of things in your life that you won't like? But you have to ignore them and move on? Well, this is one of them. Don't take it personal.
