when speakers are on I can hear nothing but a hissing, buzzing sound. Wires in correct places etc, this just occured suddenly. Cannot hear music or anything. Can anybody help please?

Hissing means that your wiring is hooked up correctly and that the speakers work. Watch out; your volume is set way up and when the sound comes it will be loud.
Did you check the volume control?
Is it muted?
Is the cable plugged into the correct hole in the sound card?
Can you get Microsoft sounds in ?
Try uninstalling and reinstalling sound devices in Device manager.

It sounds like your speakers just busted. it happen to my friend a few days ago, just get some new ones.

are the speakers new or old because it might be the wire that is faulty

umm help you I am not a doctor dial *77 and ask for immediate help aka the number is emergency sevices ok or try to go to your doctor immediatley

try new spekers or try yhem in another appliance it might be your sound card is loose, i dont rite like that
