stings for a few seconds, but its not any more painful that any other piercing. Mine was sore the next day that was it.

For me it did, and never totally healed so had to let it close up. When getting that part of your ear pierced, your are piercing cartilage. Cartilage isn't as strong as bone, and can actually "shatter" when it is pierced. If you really want to get it pierced, make sure that the earring doesn't sit under the lip/overlap that you may have at the top of your ear. The back of the earring always pressed into the back of my head when I slept and this just made it very uncomfortable for me. The pain level and the healing time is going to depend on the size of the ears, the way they lay against your head, etc. It wasn't for me, as much as I wanted it to be. I tried it twice, and did the same thing both times.

I got mine pierced when I was 16. It didn't hurt at all. DONT go to a jewelry store like Claire's or Wal-mart. Go to a Tattoo shop. Places like Claire's use a piercing gun----not professional. Most if not all legit Tattoo shops sterilize all of their equipment and piercing is what they do for a living. They aren't some 20 year old doing it for 5 bucks an hour. It may be more expensive but at least that way you'll know it was done by a professional and you aren't going to get an infection unless you yourself don't take care of it.

My experience is that the higher up you go on the ear the more it hurts. This is because you have alot of cartilege at the top. The bottom lobe is more fatty.
But they both have the same sting, upper took a day or two for soreness to go away.
Nose piercing really hurts!
Good Luck

YES! at first its like any piercing but i found it hurt more than regular lobe piercings because it is in an awkward spot. like if i put my hair behind my ears it would pull it and it was tender so it hurt a lot. i had to pin my hair back and take some pain medicine for a while in the beginning, but its totally worth it. its super cute and the pain goes away just like any other piercing after a while.

i had mine done about 12 years ago it hurts just the same as having your lobe pierced more or less but i couldn't handle the pain after it was very painful when knocked and i used to sleep on my side which i couldn't do anymore in the end i took it out as mine still hurt after about 6 months and i'd had enough don't think mine would have ever healed i've had my bellybutton and nose done and found they hurt a lot less and healed up quicker

When i had mine done it stung initially but soon healed. The only problem i did have was my hair getting stuck around the stud which was uncomfortable for a while when i'd first had it done - that was 10 years ago when i was 13 and i still have it pierced now - i dont regret it for a second

More painful than piercing the lobe and less painful than nose or nipple. Pain level equal in intensity and length of sensation to stubbing a toe.

not when ur getting it pierced... it's jus like every other one.. my ears are sensitive so mine got swollen and red and killlllled for a coupled months. after all that, i actually thought the overall experience was worse than gettin my tongue pierced... but that's probably becaue of my sensitivity of my ears... also,, i had it pierced by a gun... ihear that it's better for them to use a needle when piercing the top part

I had mine done years ago & didn't feel it was any more or less painful than a piercing lower on the ear.
