Having lived there for 8 years I think I was able to hunt down most all the public, club, and even a few private courts. The easier to locate are the following: (1) Regents Park offers public pay by the hour courts. Best to reserve them however (2) the Paddington Sports Club (3) and the Queens Tennis Club (indoor are easier to get than the outdoor) ...if you fancy an adventure, take the train from Victoria to Surrey (Redhill Stop) and grab a short cab ride to the Reigate Tennis Club. Great people, fun club, and they would let you play for the day if you paid...give them a bell before venturing out. Great pubs in the area to experience afterwards.

Depends on how much money that you have mate! If you can afford it, check out the rates in some of the hotels in W1.
The Dorchester has outside grass courts but you might need an overdraft to pay there.
If you can come out of Zone 1 (I know, just a suggestion) and into Zone 2 then there are some really good courts at Battersea Park.
