Well, I'm guessing that Jaws eats people in the movie because, well, it really wouldn't be worth watching if he didn't. But, if your looking for a way to explain why other than the "It's a movie" cop-out, it could have been that he (Jaws) mistook the first person he ate for a seal, as this is how most shark attack occur in real life. After that first person, jaws might have developed a taste for people, just like some other animals do in the wild (It's where those stories of man-eating tigers come from.) And a shark that size would need to eat more than the average shark, and would probably eat anything it could catch. It could (and if it were actually alive, would) eat fish and other sea creatures, we just wouldn't see that in the movie because it would make for a better nature film, not a Hollywood Blockbuster.

In the movie, for dramatic effect. A movie about sharks chasing their natural prey might make an interesting special on Discovery, but it won't play very well at the box office.

In real life, humans aren't sharks' preferred prey. When people get bitten by a shark, it's because the shark mistook the human for something else, then spat the human back out when they realized what they really had. Unfortunately, when the shark spits you out, it can do as much damage as getting bitten in the first place.

Sharks will attack humans if their natural prey becomes scarce, or something weird's happening in the environment. That means that situations like in Jaws (the movie) are possible, but that's not how things are all the time. Sharks don't swim around thinking "yum yum" when they see humans in the water; they'd actually rather eat a seal or a fish. Hope that helps!

Jaws does eat fish. In the opening credits sequence in Jaws 3-D a large fish gets CHOMPED By Jaws!

Sharks do not like the taste of humans hence they normally spit what they have bit out there are more people killed by coconuts falling off tree's in the year than by sharks although how many people would go to see a pic about killer coconuts i don't know

What kind of scary movie would that make if he just ate other fish? By the way, he's a robot not actually a real shark, and the people don't actually get eaten.

I really hope you're kidding. Do you really think they only eat humans, and no other fish? Think about it, where do they get a human when they get hungry? Call and order just like a pizza? You may want to check your sources again.

cuz he doesnt like fish, and humans taste more like chicken. Too bad a flock of chickens never swim in the ocean huh???
Maybe he'd leave us humans alone then.
