It's called lucid dreaming. There is burgeoning literature out there about how you can supposedly get good at doing it and eventually start to control your dreams and do anything you want. Fly, see in all directions at once, talk with famous people... etc. etc.
I've been able to do it a few times ever. Once I tried to convince others in my dream and they wouldn't believe me, so I jumped out of a 4th story window and survived without injury just to prove it to them. Fun stuff.

Yes, it's happened 3 times in my life. Good fun if you can control it but thats only happened once, the first time. The other two times when I tried to take control I woke up. :-(
I think I tried too hard to jump from the situation I was in to something else and "Pop" I was awake. Next time I'll just change it a little like the first time and see how I go.

Yes, I have realized while dreaming that I was having a dream. Then I suddenly wake up, fall asleep again and continue where I left off.

Yea you're lucky it was only a dream, I realised I was having a nightmare and was too suprised to wake up before the freaky stuff started. But it happens kind of often to me, it gets kind of boring to change your dreams after a while, it's much more relaxing just to kick back and let it unfold.

Yes, I have..........more than once. You know, since I have a masters in psych...........maybe it is the psych chatter that does it! Seriously, it was very wierd. I even had one dream, where I knew it was a dream, and when the 'story' was over, the red, velvet curtain came down, and I woke up! Now, THAT was strange.

Yes i have, and it was the best dream ever! Because you realize you are in a dream and you can do whatever it is that you have always wanted to do, without repercussion.

Yes! It's called lucid dreaming and it takes a little practice, but you can teach yourself to do it more often.
Here's a link that might give you a little more insight into it.
