Good Question! If the evil one is winning in someones life, he really puffs them up, they believe stupid things that they think. He makes their life easy, and gives them what they want..especially agreeable people.. God on the other hand, knows an unselfish heart and He will cultivate it with the trials and tribs we go through.. that struggle produces tiny little miracles.. that we know for a fact, came from God, and our faith through grace is given and in strong tact. Then our lives become blessed.. Actually there is a website called godandscience.org He does a fabulous job of using science to illustrate that only God our creater could've done so many of these things.

So, what is your definition of god? When you say the word or think the word, what image is conjured up in your mind?

Most likely an old MAN with a long-flowing beard. This is the common misconception of humans because of the influence, fear-mongering, and protracted mis-teaching of thousands of people (mostly MEN) over thousands of years.

Why is it so easy to believe in a book that was written by MAN, edited by MAN and interpreted by MAN when sound and proven science is so easily discarded?

There is a Mystery of LIfe. It's what makes the seed sprout, grow, blossom and bloom, and die. Why does that have to be the misshapen idea of MAN and a MALE god that if you don't believe in you'll go to a MAN-made hell? Because I don't believe in a god espoused by MAN, does that make me an atheist (which, by the way, literally means against THEOLOGY, not god).

Do you think that more reading of different texts on spirituality and other beliefs would make your belief in a MAN-made god stronger or weaker? Until you have read extensively and still believe in a MAN-made god, then you can come into public forums and make everyone who doesn't believe in what you believe wrong.

Your ignorance of the pertinent subjects is astounding, and, because of the sheer amount of content, plus the analyses involved in explaining the faults in the connections your question assumes, this is WAY too long to be answered on an Internet forum.

If you are a truly interested in the answer, go read a few books. If you would rather be ignorant on the subjects, it's your right to do so, but don't be surprised if you win no converts.

Who's to say the big bang isn't a result of god? On the same token who's to say that it is? No one truly knows the answers to these two questions. It's all speculation.

Drop the "instead of" and you will have it correct. Where did the big bang come from? all things are part of Gods creation. All knowledge was given to us. read romans 1-19/21.

I am an atheist because I don't believe in deities and the word atheist describes this state of disbelief. I don't believe in deities because no argument or evidence presented to me in support of their existence has been convincing.

1. Biology adequately describes life and emotions without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

2. Astronomy adequately describes the formation of stars/planets/universe/etc without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

3. Geology adequately describes the evolution of the Earth, land formations, etc without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

4. Psychology describes the human psyche better than appealing to mystical invisible dieties

5. Appealing to mystical invisible dieties is an appeal to ignorance

6. There's no physical evidence for the existence of mystical invisible dieties

7. A myriad of mystical invisible dieties have been posited by emphatically superstitious societies and have been proven to be products of overly active imaginations (today's religion is tomorrow's myth) and ignorance.

8. Believing in mystical invisible dieties seems to become quite absurd when those who posit the mystical invisible dieties begin explaining why and how they exist in the face of contradictory physical evidence.

9. As scientific knowledge increases, the role of the mystical invisible dieties oddly gets pushed further and further back.

10. Mystical invisible dieties are mystical invisible dieties (ie can never be found by empirical methods)

To explain the beginning using the supernatural explanation is not rational.

Conscience and morals are a by-product of socialization. Religions provide sets of guidelines for assimilating them.

I'm not an atheist, but I think that we should let people believe what they want to believe. I mean, don't we have religious freedom? And this is basically the same as racial discrimination, discriminating against someone because of their skin color (but this is because of their religious beliefs). I really don't think that we should try to change anyone's mind concering their religion.
