he spent 135 minutes on homework
there are (60min/hr)(24hr/day)=1440 minutes in a day
So 135/1440= 9.375% of the day spent on homework

The first answer was correct.

2 hours and 15 minutes is 2.25 hours (2.25 since 15 minutes is a quarter of an hour)

2.25/24 = .09375 = 9.375%

Though a more interesting question would be what percent of waking hours did he spend on homework....

Assuming that he sleeps 8 hours a night, we would do: 2.25/16 and get 14.0625%... poor guy needs to have some fun.

OK.
2 hr 15 min =135 minutes in total

24hr * 60 minutes = 1440

Divide 1440/135= 0.09375 * 100

The estimate should be 9.375% which is almost 9.4%

9.375%

(0.09375 * 100) = 9.375 (the answer above from BHAJUN is a typo, but his initial answer was right)

You can also take the total number of minutes in the day (1440) and divide it into the number of minutes spent on homework (135) -- 135 divided by 1440 = 0.09375 or 9.375%

Speaking of homework - do your own next time ;)

24 hours in a day, 2.25 hours on homework,

2.25 hours/24 hours = %/100

(2.25)(100) = 24x
x=225/24 = 9.375% of the day spent on HW

2 hours and 15 minutes is 2.25 hours

There are 24 hours in a day...I'm assuming you mean an entire day, including the time he sleeps. To find a percentage, divide the time he spent by the total number of hours in a day, and multiply by 100

[2.25 / 24] * 100%

0.9375 * 100%

9.735%

So bout 9.7% of his day was spent on homework

divide 2.25 by 24 and move the decimal to the right 2 spaces. i'm too lazy to do this myself!

the above answer is way off- 2 hours and 15 min. is nowhere near 94% of 24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
