many of us dont get it......doesnt it that is what we are living for?

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

"Why does the meaning of life?" is a fragment of a sentence and is not a question.

"Many of us dont (no apostrophe I see) get it. . . . doesnt (ditto) it that is what we are living for?" is also gobbledeegook!

Sorry, young thing. Read your own question aloud before posting it. And read these answers too.

The meaning of life is a spiritual situation. If we are open to a spiritual dimension then the meaning of life will be revealed. You must be searching for truth and it will find you. In the face of Jesus.

The meaning of life is just a step in to either heaven or hell, so first u need to get saved and then join into a good indepindant fundemental biblebelieving church. Baptist
You need to realize what Jesus did for u on the cross and believe that he is and that he bore all those sins for the whole world that everyone may be saved. We don't deserve it but if he could do that how easy could it be for us to be saved from the wages of sin.
Well u need a King James Bible and need to find a good Baptist Church they can help u more with the meaning of life.

The first thing you need to do is throw away any bibles you have laying around, and deny that Jesus is your savior.

The rest will take care of itself.

I've come to two possible conclusions

Mystical union with Jesus Christ

or the number 10,273

It has to be one of those two.

Good luck my friend.
