I've always kind of wondered what would happen if someone bought your auction, you took the money and never mail them their item. Would eBay get the police involved or just refund them their money? I'm not planning to do it myself, heh, I'm just surfing eBay now and I thought about it.

PayPal has fraud protection. However, PayPal will go after you.

It depends. It da buyer pays with PayPal, the buyer can open communication through PayPal, either sayin they didnt receive da item or it wasnt what the desciption said it was. At this point the seller either has to send the item or refund money if the description was totally off. If u pay with a check, of course u have their address and can try and contact da person, but if they are rude proceed with suing.

Most people won't release the money that's in escrow through PayPal or wherever until they recieve the product they purchased. One was the seller makes sure that the person gets it is to get signature confrimation.

Well, you should read into eBays privacy policy. From my understanding, any issue like the one you mentioned between buyer and seller actually has nothing to do with eBay and cannot be resolved that way.
