Curious. I know some places do not pay very well while others pay more.

The sonic my friend works at pays 6.50 an hour plus tips.

When I worked at Sonic many, many, years ago, I was paid minimum wage. They might pay more now, depending on experience and etc., but I'm not making promises on that. I didn't have to report any tips that I made, either. Guess it just depends on the location.

If the tips at your Sonic are decent, they might consider that tipped employees, then they can get away with paying less than minimum wage...but it can't be any less than the minimum for tipped employees. I doubt that many do that, though, because from my experiences, I didn't make enough in tips to reach the minimum wage. Employers don't like to pay allocated wage...its money out of their pockets.

they actually pay under minimum wage! That is actually illegal and they can get shut down for that or be forced to raise the pay for their employees. They should pay around minimum wage, it is unfair paying under minimum wage.

Sonis pays it's carhops minimum wage or less. They actually rely on tips for their income.

i think somewhere around 6.25 and hour not sure
