Once a plunger is used what is the best way to clean it and then store it next to the toilet? I say spray it with or dunk it in bleach. But then what do you put it on/in? I don't really want to just put it in a plastic bag. What are you suggestions?

Read a few of the 'interesting' answers. I clean ours with a garden hose, or in the winter, use the laundry sink and wipe it clean. We just store it behind the toilet, off to te side next to the wall. That way it is pretty much out of sight.

You mean we supposed to clean them? :-O
I usually pour a little Pine-sol in the toilet and dunk the plunger and swish it around. I keep mine out in the Garage, not use it much, but, it there when I do need it.

You can just rinse it off in the bath or shower and spray it with Lysol. You can also buy plunger buckets that are great for storage.

My mother always just rinses it in the bathtub with bleach, and then stores it on the bathroom floor behind the door handle up. (we have a fake tile floor.) It makes a faint brown ring-stain similar to a rust stain but we're not huge neat freaks and we don't use it that often.

I rinse it off in the toilet bowl and just set it right on the floor.
