Remember a few decades ago the big hubbub about killer bees. They were invading the US and spreading everywhere. Scary news stories aired about people getting stung repeatedly. Tons of federal grant money was awarded to study the problem.
So what happened? Was there not enough money to be made with killer bees? Did scientific study move on to bigger, scarier study projects?
I mean, what good is spending federal grant money unless it creates something big business can turn a profit on?
What a system.
Who made all the money pumping pollution into the air?
Why it's the same people we are going to pay to fix the problem.

Have you thought of changing your username to GRUMPS?

As to the killer bees, I believe they interbred with regular NA honey bees and became domesticated. And they would only go so far north anyway, because they didn't like the cold.

Don't forget that we now have West Nile disease from mosquitoes to worry about. And they DO come north.

But I do agree that the government spends way too much money on research that goes nowhere. Maybe there should be a money back guarantee--if no usable product comes out of your research within five years, you have to pay back all the money that was leant to you for that research.

Since honey bees are in sudden die-off crisis and there may not be enough bees to pollinate crops...I don't think that charges of wasteful spending can be levied against research on this topic.

Money, it's a gas. You grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.

we both know the news does whatever it can to scare the audience into watching more news. why do they do that?
