I think he uses it to make money......

You know if we'd all stop putting everything under microscopes in this world and just go with the flow - come on people its m-u-s-i-c, whether you like rap, him, his style or not. I don't like oprea, then I DON'T listen to it, but I don't try to pick apart if they use a word in their music that I could sensor as offensive - I just listen to the beats, the words, and let it run through me. I thought we lived in the "land of free speech" I don't think he's digging at anyone. I think its more the shock value and for those who get all upset over his choice of words, its WORKING for him, cuz' he's got their hair standing up. Its like me with my tattoo's which are mostly of satan and evil stuff - oh boy does that ever get to folks when I walk about and their not covered. Some have to do with the fact that my daddy called me his "little devil", another reason is "shock value" cuz' I am a rebel and again it DOES work cuz' it REALLY gets to some.

Don't judge everything so negatively people, listen to music for what it is songs, notes, sounds, lyrics, maybe that truly is all it is.

Homophobic. I mean, it's not just that he uses the word- this is the guy who, in his song "The Real Slim Shady", says "But if we can hump dead animals and antelopes
then there's no reason that a man and another man can't elope; EWWW!", effectively not only comparing homosexuality to bestiality and necro-bestiality, but also tacking on an "ewww" of disgust (in the video, he comes between the two men about to kiss with a disgusted face).

Do I personally think he's homphobic? No, not really- like other say, I think it's about shock value and money, and his duet with Elton John has shown that he's not too homophobic. So I think he's actually fine with or ambivalent about gay people.

But even if he isn't homophobic, his usage of "f*ggot" in his songs IS homophobic- it isn't just another word he's using, but one directly tied to negative views of gay people.

Hope that helps.

He took some heat a couple of years ago for using the word ****** and later apologized but I think it was because he was taking so much heat. I think that inside he is still homophobic but just has gotten careful about when adn where he displays it.

Neither, it means he wants money. He's just putting it out to get listeners to sell records.

I bet he is surrounded by gay people as he works in the entertainment industry. If he hated them he'd have an awful career I'm sure, as he'd get sabotaged at every turn.

Plus he went out of his way to do a duet with Elton John to show that he's not homophobic.

I think he as a person doesn't care, and as a performer is just doing it to sell records.

It's actually great because it encourages talk on the topic.

Ya know P.T. Barnum was right. Theres one born every minute. Shock jocks like Stern and Imus know this. Mathers does too. They laugh all the way to the bank...that is of course untill the fickle public decides what they have to say ain't so cool anymore. Thems the breaks.

I thought he is, but after I heard the beautiful duet with Elton John (gay) I understood its either the money or the shock element.
