Hello Staci,
I would recommend The Talisman by Stephen King. I would also say IT by Stephen King both are very good, they are long novels but are well worth the time.

Try this book: "The Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill...I loved it. I liked it better than Stephen King's books. Joe Hill is new and an author to keep an eye out for. Check out his web site: www.joehill.com......it is cool too.

I keep on recommending the Ghost Stories of M R James - don't be put off by the fact they are victorian - they are *seriously* scary. I read them at the age of 30something and was afraid to go to bed and once in, was afraid to get out in case there was something underneath.

Stephen King's Salem's Lot is probably the scariest book I've read.

Okay, well False Memories is scary. It's by Dean Koontz, and although it does have some blood in it, there's not much. It's mostly a psycological horror and I suggest you get it on audio tape. You won't be able to stop listening!

The Shining by Stephen King kept me awake and creeped out. Even if you've seen the movie, the book is sooooo much better and sooooo much scarier.

You're on the right track then LOL. King has so many, but the Shining stands out, and cell phone is interesting. Dean Koontz is excellent as well. Good reading!

My favorite scary novel is "Salem's Lot", also by Steven King. Every time I read it (and it's been three or four times), I actually feel like somebody's watching me in my bedroom - and it's on the second floor of our house! You'll get the reference if you read it!
