I'm going to raise a few things to consider. I have a good friend who lives a town over in Northboro. Keep in mind that area is one of the snowiest in the states. When we get a couple inches she gets a foot.

I agree with all the others that the closer you stay out there the more economical the rent (as the closer you get to Boston, the more it goes up).

Do you know how your time will be split? It is a really good sized commute, so that would really factor into any suggestion I made. Say you will mostly be in Boston. What you save in rent you will spend in gas and tons of commute time. Also would that snow be a concern? I'd consider it, as it is just how it is out there.

I also think I suggest a town halfway between the 2, I'd be giving you a long commute every workday of your life. Not sure that's what I would choose, especially if my time isn't split equally.

So hope this gives you something to think about and might hopefully help with a practical choice.

ETA;
I'm not familiar with the complex you posted, but do know of a site where renters rate housing, and it sure didn't good feedback. I'll post the link below so you can check it out, and also check out any other large buildings you are looking at.

FYI that part of Framingham is complex after complex. I looked there many years ago and found most to be expensive and tiny. There was one with surprisingly good sized apts but I decided against living that far out of Boston, and that far away from from everything (plus one of the main things I wanted after years in Boston was to get away from traffic and that's all you hear on Rt. 9, which is where these all are on or near). This is a good location to jump on the Ma Turnpike to Boston, but it's not really a neighborhood....just a main drag with lots of complexes then lots of shopping centers. Just so you can get an idea of the area.

You question is a bit confusing. Do you mean to say you will be working in BOTH downtown Boston or Marlborough or EITHER downtown Boston or Marlborough?

In either case I would suggest you look for lodgings located in towns along one of the two commuter rail lines between which Marlborough is located so you have option not to drive to Boston (which can be hellish). Such communities with apartments within a 20-25 minute or less drive to Marlborough would include the communities Framingham, Natick, Acton, Ashland and Maynard.

Marlborough, Hudson, Framingham, or Natick are good bets. Reasonably priced and all with an easy 25 minute drive to the Commuter Rail stations in Framingham and Natick which go into South Station. I'd stay away from Southborough and some of the smaller towns as they tend to be pretty pricey.

I would think that you'd be wise to live somewhere that has the commuter rail, so that you're not required to sit in your car to and from work every day. As someone who makes an hour and 15 minute commute every day (that doesn't even take into account any accidents or SNOW!) I'd strongly recommend that you find somewhere in Norfolk, Franklin, etc. Marlboro is right off Route 495 and the Mass Pike. If you were to look at a map of the communities in the area, you'll see that those between Boston and Marlboro are pretty expensive. Added to that, if your'e not familiar with the area, you may very well end up next to a project and not even know it until you've tried to sleep! I strongly suggest you look at a map and just start searching listings for apartments. Look for one in your price range or a little lower...then, come back on here with addresses in mind and hope that we Bostonians will provide you with good advice. Even the nicest communities in the metro-west area (west of the city) have a lot of Section 8 housing. It's often well maintained and looks great, so you wouldn't really know. Another suggestion, look at the police blotters online, in local newspapers. I know that some communities even list the streets where they've responded to Emergency calls. As a single woman myself, I'd be sure to consult with people in the area. You can't go wrong with that. Doesn't appear you've done much investigating yet, though.....
come back out here when you know more specifics. Then we're more likely to be helpful! :)

I live in Natick and commute to Boston every day. It's about halfway between Marlborough and Boston. I live in Natick Village, and it's right across from the West Natick T and minutes from Rt 9/Mass Pike.

Driving from Marlborough to Boston during rush hour will take an hour or more. But your rent in Marlborough will be far less than what you might find in or around Boston. Actually I consider Marlborough to be quite reasonable, as are some other towns near Marlborough.
