It has been casted. Is there anything else that can be done to speed recovery? Also the doctor wrapped an ace bandage around the cast. Does anyone know why?
Thanks.

what is the rush let it heal at its own rate and why didn't you ask the Dr what the ace bandage is for. Call the Dr's office and ask these questions.

I actually broke my fifth metacarpal while playing football. I didn't know I broke it till half time and continued playing. The first doctor said I couldn't play football because I would possibly roll the bone. The second said it will be good and put me in a sports cast and I played then we cut the cask of and I would put on the brace he gave me. Breaking a bone in your hand doesn't really hurt to bad. After 2 weeks in a cast and a brace I just finally stopped wearing both. I would just do whatever I wanted it. It would hurt if I hit it on something but it wasn't to bad. I actually believe I broke the same one last night playing football I have to go see a doctor tomorrow.

Different breaks take a different amount of time, the key is HOW the bone broke (splinter, complete, partial). Only your doc can give an approximate amount of time for healing and possibly recommend things to help it heal. Mostly, it's a body process that just takes time. The doc ace bandaged it to help immobolize it. The break is such that movement has to be very guarded.

Chuck E. Cheese may be a lucrative place, but it would be more of a "take a baby girl and leave your son behind with a note" instead of an actual trade. Your son will be fine as long as you give him a lot of tokens to show how much you love him. Just remember that you can't trade back when your 15 year old daughter comes home pregnant, or becomes a stripper. You are on your own.

my daughter fractured her index finger. the doctor told her it would take a year for it to heal completely, but it will be about 6 weeks before the cast comes off. you should ask the doctor about the bandage.

can take up to 6 weeks to heal.....the ace wrap is to protect the plaster casting that he used and is also for esthetics. Your son needs to not punch things anymore.

it really depends on his activities. He may have used the ace to give a little extra support. sometimes a hand cast is this and can break. not sure though.

well the best thing you can do is hope that the pain goes away. i broke a small bone in my hand last year and it still hurts but mostly because i didnt have the proper care for it. just try and be carefull because this bone can be broke again is you had it broke once.

probably about 4-6 weeks. the bone has to heal on it's own.
