I have never ridden a Motorcycle before, and as I should, I am taking a BRC to learn the ropes to riding a motorcycle. I have driven mopeds before, so I do kind of know what to expect as far as riding goes.

I want to get a bike, so have have been looking around and I recently sat on the HD Sportster, which would be a great first bike, except for the fact that I felt very cramped and oversized for the bike. I have looked at the HD Street Bob or Fat Boy as a first, but my concerns are cost and size.

I don't want to buy a bike that is inexpensive, but too small for me that I will outgrow quickly, but I also don't want to spend a lot on one that is the right size either. I have only looked at Harley's because I like the image it protrays, and I also like the look of the Street Bob and Fat Boy, but is there something else out there (other Harley's or non-Harley's) that may be similar in size accomodation for me, but less expensive and as just as nice looking to consider?

Pls Hlp

V-Star 650 would probably satisfy for the first few months or so but as you get your "sea-legs" your eyes will start wondering back to the Fatboy or Softail. Unless you get a great price on a used V-Star, might as well forego the buy-n-sell hassles and fork up the extra bucks for a nice HD.

those form of solutions telling you to purchase a Sportster...lmao. Even die not problem-free Harley adult males will inform you a Sportster is fantastically a lot bottom feeding!!! i have had not problem-free middle HD riders tell me they'd purchase a huge metric before they'd be stuck on a Sportster!!! it really is the real scoop...the most proper promoting motorbike of ANY metric in 2005 became the Suzuki C50. that is the biggest bang for you greenback you may get accessible today. motorbike Cruiser mag has rated this motorbike tops in that is classification because it got here out in 2002. FYI the motorbike is bodily better than maximum of Harley's motorcycles and is interior a million/2 inch of being as large as Suzuki's best cruiser. that is 805cc's so if length concerns seem elsewhere. yet speaking from an proprietor's standpoint you won't be able to triumph over the element.

You're right!
At 6'1" you'd not only look like a circus bear on a Sportster, you'd probably out grow it in a few short months.
Go for the Big Twin, you'll get used to it as quickly as you would the smaller bike, and be much happier with your choice.
The best bike for you is the one on which you are most comfortable.

Look into Victory bikes. Polaris makes them. www.victory-usa.com. My roommate has one and it looks and sounds a lot like a harley for less money. I am a big harley fan but you end up paying more for the name. Like the difference between jeans at 'The Buckle' or at Wal-Mart. Same function and style different brand and price.

Check out Honda's 1800cc VTX. Great looking liquid cooled VTwin that will knock a Harley's dick in the dirt. Lots of accessories available that you can buy with the bucks you'll save on the initial purchase.

One of the Dyna models should fit you. They are also customizable for the best fit. If you want to spend less money for the first bike, there are very good offerings from Honda and Yamaha(Star).

Try looking at Honda's. With your size, I would stick to something at least 750cc or up. They make some nice bikes, at a reasonable price.

get a heritage or even better....a road king. the road king would handle better than the fatty. its best to get the bike that fits like a glove from day 1....cheaper in the long run. u could get a victory tourer if a road king is too much money.
