Jordan = team
Ford = engine supplier

JORDAN AS Team
The best way to think about it is this. If you decide you want to go racing in F1 in the morning and your mates build the cars you have a team. Now suppose your name is Eddie Jordan, you might call your team "Jordan"!! This would make you the team known as Jordan.

However nobody could afford, or have the expertise available to build an engine themselves so your new team will need to go out and buy an engine and pop it into the lovely new car you and your mates have designed.

Suppose you decide to pop a Ford engine into the car, then you are Jordan, and use Ford engines. However, Ford may decide they will give you the engines at a reduced price if you include their name along side your.

JORDAN-FORD
As the above is worth millions to you, you go for it. Now your team will be quoted in the press as "Jordan-Ford". This makes you millions to spend on your team and Ford will get all the advertising. But Jordan is still the Team as you and your mates make the cars and all Ford does is supply the engines.

FORD AS MANUFACTUER
After a few seasons Ford has started to like the whole F1 experience, but they feel they could make the cars better then you and your mates. They decide to ought you as sole controller and to buy your team for a small fortune. Now makes the car designs, suspension, gearbox, ASWELL as pop engines into the car. They will now be manufacturer’s and will change the name of the team to "FORD-FORD!" but will simply be called "Ford"

PS:
Teams are bankrolled by a number of sponsors.
Manufactures are bankrolled by an engine manufacturer.

Below is the list of teams and their constructors, if the engine supplier is listed in the constuctor area, that team is bankrolled by an engine manufacturer as they also construct the car. If another name there they are a team. If however it is a mixture of both a team name and engine supplier, then the team is supported by a manufactuer but are not 100% a manufactuer!

TEam_________________CONSTRUCTOR

BMW SAUBER__________SAUBER BMW
HONDA________________HONDA
MF1___________________MF1
PRODRIVE_____________PRODRIVE
RED BULL______________R.B.R.
MILD SEVEN RENAULT___RENAULT
FERRARI_______________FERRARI
SUPER AGURI___________SUPER AGURI HONDA
S.T.R.__________________S.T.R.
PANASONIC TOYOTA_____TOYOTA

Hopefully this was of some use to you!

Jordan is the team, Ford is the engine.

What you are referring to is when a manufacturer owns a team like in the case of Honda, Toyota, Ferrari or BMW. They are responsible for providing the engine as well as designing the car's body. For the most part they are responsible for the design and creation of almost every part of the car. (They might get a 3rd party gearbox, brakes, etc.)

Jordon-Ford is a team in F1, But they are the manufacturers of the racing cars for their team, Jordan is a grand prix company while the name Ford is attached to it because it wat the engine supplier for it, now the team is known by the name Spyker with drivers Christian Albers and Adrian Sutil.........

Brief History about Jordan:--

Jordan Grand Prix was a Formula One constructor that competed from 1991 to 2005. The team is named after Irish businessman and founder Eddie Jordan. Jordan and his team were well known for a "rock and roll" attitude which added colour and character to Formula One in the 1990s.

Eddie Jordan had a brief stint as a race driver in the late 1970s and ran a successful Formula Three and Formula 3000 team, called Eddie Jordan Racing, in the late 1980s. His team won the F3000 driver's championship with future Formula One star Jean Alesi in 1989.

In early 2005, the team was sold to Midland Group, who competed for one final season as 'Jordan', before renaming the team as MF1 Racing for the 2006 season, before being sold again later in 2006 to Dutch car manufacturer Spyker............NMN

Jordan is the name of the team. Ford is the engine that they use. Such as Mclaren is the team, Mercedes is the engine. Williams and toyota, ferrari ferrari, but you have teams like red bull racing who dont use the engine manufacturers name and torro rosso. (Both the same folk but different franchises.)

Jordan-ford is a team. Ford is the manufacturer. Renault for instance is the team's name and the manufacturer. (They get their own engines.) Another example would be Ferrari.

If you want to know more, there are many websites to refer to. It also helps if you read newspapers and magazines.

It is a team. All the formula one teams are teams the only difference between a privateer team and a manufactuer is that a manufactuer build the car and the engine. A privateer team only builds the car and are supplied with engines from somewhere else. I.E Toyota manufactuer. williams- toyota- private team.

in formula 1 the teams build their own cars so the teams are the manufacturer
Ferrari is the team and manufacturer
same with Renault, Honda, Toyota,

then you have private teams like mclaren they are still the manufacturer and they are supplied by Mercedes with engines,
