It stands for "Side Angle Side" It refers to a theorem about congruent triangles.

If two triangles have one congruent side, an angle adjacent to that side congruent, and another side adjacent to the angle congruent, then the two triangles must be congruent.

For example, let's take triangle ABC and triangle DEF. If segment AB is congruent to DE, angle ABC is congruent to DEF, and side BC is congruent to EF, then the two triangles are congruent.

**Note, that is just ONE example. You may start with any side and go with either of the angles adjacent to it. This only works if the angle is adjacent to the first congruent side, and the second set of congruent sides are adjacent to the congruent angles.

if you know that two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle and the angle in between those two sides are congruent in both trianges, then both triangles are congruent
