A. Sam Lacey.

Tiny Archibald I think wore #1, Jack Twyman wore #27, Maurice Stokes wore #12.

A. Sam Lacey

Sam Lacey never actually played in Sacramento.

The franchise actually started in 1945 as the Rochester Royals. In 1957, the franchise moved and became the Cincinnati Royals. Then, in 1970, the franchise moved to Kansas City, MO. But because Kansas City already had a baseball team named Royals, the basketball franchise changed its name to the Kings. And, because they initially split their home games between Kansas City and Omaha, they were officially known as the Kansas City/Omaha Kings. In 1975, they dropped the "Omaha" and became the Kansas City Kings. The franchise finally moved to its current home in Sacramento in 1985.

Sam Lacey was drafted out of New Mexico State by the Cincinnati Royals in the 1st round (5th pick) of the 1970 draft. His last year with the Royals/Kings franchise was 1981, when they were still in Kansas City. He played 13 seasons in the NBA, with 11 full seasons with the Royals/Kings.

His career averages were 10.3 points per game, 9.7 rebounds per game, 1.3 steals per game, and 1.5 blocks per game.

His best year came in 1973-1974 season with the Kansas City/Omaha Kings, when he averaged 14.2 points per game, 13.4 rebounds per game, 1.6 steals per game, and 2.3 blocks per game.
