Not likely any time in the near future.

Before the first American Civil War was a period of many years over which the tensions between the North and the South built up. They fought in Congress over tariffs and the addition of new states as slave states or free states. Statesmen like Daniel Webber gave their all trying to work out a compromise. Finally, when the two sides were completely divided in their thinking and disdain of each other, the South seceded. The Civil War then happened when Lincoln invaded the South to take it back.

Right now, there is no such division building up in our country. Political parties are always at each others throats, but democrats and republicans still think of themselves as Americans first. The Civil War happened because two completely different societies arose in the country. This is not happening right now. It may some time in the future, but it won't happen without plenty of warning.

Now, a coup can happen with much less warning -- where a group attempts to take over the government through military force, but that is not the same thing as a civil war, where the people are divided against each other.

We already had one in 1861 to 1865. If you mean another one, no. Not at this time. No group of people have organized themselves to make another Civil war. Now, anyway, would be a deadly time to have one. America would be attacked by our enemies, like Iran, Syria, or even possibly Germany. Most of the world hates USA, and is jealous of us. Even Venezuela, or Mexico might attack us while we lay so vulnerable. Grocery stores would shut down, our money would be valueless, and people would starve. There would be more raiding of companies, stores, and more crime. The military would split in half, half fighting for the traitors, the other for the government. Any action taken at this point in time, for a Civil War, will be a great mistake. After our enemies come in, while we are fighting for whatever cause, we will be taken over, and lose any chance of Liberty that we had had, or ever will have. America would be dead.

Never, complacency has settled in. Somewhere in the future others will attempt to overthrow the US government, hopefully, that will wake us up.

We are the most creative, innovative and energetic nation of people in the world. But, we take long naps.

Maybe, anything is possible. Right now I do not think there is a justifiable reason for one to actually occur, no issue that would actually cause someone to topple the government.
