I usually leave mine on while I am not home, my brother said that is a bad idea- it's almost like a signal to thieves that I'm not home, So- I turned it on when I was home. he said the same thing!
So- should I just leave it on 24/7?

I leave my front porch light on only if I am expecting night visitors. However, I always turn it off before going to bed.
When I am away from home overnight, I always leave a few interior lights on.

I only turn mine on when I need it, like when I'm expecting company over. But I've seen neighbors leave theirs on all the time. A good compromise would be a light with a motion sensor. Or better still, a trusted neighbor to check your house now and then when you're gone.

I leave my light on when it is dark outside to welcome in anyone who is in need. Not saying that everyone is trustworthy. But if someone is in search of help at night then they are welcome to my door. In today's world, thieves don't pay any attention to the lights, come on they know the tricks. What they do is watch your house, watch your comings and goings. See if you are predictable or not. It is those that are predictable that make better targets. Do as you wish with your light, it is after all your home and your light. And you should always feel comfortable with your actions in your own home.

We have ours on auto censor... if someone walks to close to our home the lights come on automatically and we simply let our hungry killer dogs out to introduce themselves. Works well !!!
Instead of leave your porch light on... leave an interior light on so appears that someone is home. You could just turn on the TV if you wanted to and not worry about lighting.

You shouldn't leave it on. Robbers will think that you won't need the light because you're currently inside the house, but if you do leave it on, they'll realize what you're doing and probably just peek through a window to check if the lights are on.

I have mine on a motion sensor, so whenever someone comes within 10 feet of the front steps, it comes on automatically. Motion sensors are fairly cheap, and can save you money in the long run by only having the light when its needed.

I like sitting in the dark outside. I always leave mine off. Unless there's pizza coming!
