my boyfriend's uncle is a hunter and was saying that he knew a guy that shot a bow arrow at this eagle an killed it,well that guy was fined 150 thousand dollars to bail out and 20 years in prison,because the american eagle is the bird of america,so i just wanted to know if it was true.

it is true. american eagles are almost extinct and they are like the states symbol. there's some type of law..

Stories that start out, I knew guy who knew a guy...are almost always urban legends. If the story is true, the fine was for killing an endangered species not for killing the the symbol of the nation.

Quite possibly. Bald eagles are highly protected in america and to purposfully kill one holds high penalties.

The Bald and Golden Eagles are protected by a few statutes. They are both protected as endangered species.

That could be true. I know that the penalties were pretty strict at one point for poaching endangered/protected species.
