How does general admission seating work? I'm confused because I'm going to a concert, and I got my tickets, and I have a seat number, but I thought that general admission, you could go anywhere you want. Is that how it works, or does it depend on what venue your at?

Depends on where the concert is. For instance, I went to see They Might Be Giants, (awesome concert by the way), and we were seated General Admission, with assigned seat numbers (seated in the order they were bought) because the concert hall was a theater and there was no running around space.
Variantly,
When I went to see Aerosmith General Admission was pretty much a seat number to confirm that no two of the same tickets were sold.... you make a color copy of a ticket with the same seat number as someone who's all ready gotten into the concert and it won't work.... get it?

General Admission means that there is a number of seats or a standing area for that matter that is not assigned by tickets. People with Gen Admin tickets are allowed there and have no particular seat. First come first serve.

General admission usually means it's a free for all, there are no assigned seats. Perhaps your seat number is just the number of the ticket that you bought....so they can keep a count on how many have been sold. I don't know for sure, it's just a thought.

I always thought general admission meant you could go anywhere. That's how all my general admission tickets have been. Maybe it depends on venue.

Typically General admission is first come fist serve. I would check with the venue to be sure you don't get stuck with crappy seats.

Good luck!

It is most likely a standing room only type of venue, that is why no seats are assigned.

general admission is first come first served - all seats are up for grabs to anyone.
some venues still reserve seats though - you may have one of those reserved seats
