There were the Stastnys, the Sutters, the Hunters, the Maloneys, the Dineens, the Babychs, and others in the 80s. I'm sure that more than 4 sets of them played at once in one playoff year. I'm thinking 83-84.

This is something I've wondered for a while... but if too many d-men get injured for the Rangers, we may be able to add the Staal's to this list. Marc, the one inbetween Eric and Jordan, is in the minors for the Rangers right now. And give it a few years and we may have all 4 in the playoffs... Eric, Marc, Jordan, and Jared.

What about all six Sutters at once? Or all three Plagers on the Blues at once? I doubt this is any kind of record. There have been plenty of brothers in hockey. I think guys who have brothers to play the game with have a better chance of getting to the big league in the first place.

Interesting question. Don't know if they have those stats anywhere...maybe they'll say something about it in the Ranger-Thrasher game tonight since two of them are going against each other.

However, Marcel has been on IR for the Rangers for the past 3 weeks. He should return for the series (possibly even tonight), but I haven't seen them give a definitive answer yet.

I doubt it. Remember that at one time there were three Stastny's, five Sutters, and numerous other brothers in the league at the same time. Odds are sometime in the eighties there were easily more brothers playing in the playoffs. That said, I am too lazy to look it up. :-)

It could very well be. Would've been a little more interesting as well if Carolina had made it in, with Eric Staal joining his younger brother, Jordan, in the Stanley Cup race. Good question.

I don't think so. There are a lot of brothers playing in the NHL. I could be wrong though.
