Hudson county/metro area/New York/New Jersey and Long Island/Rockaway/Long Beach

Does it help your writting more if you live in the middle of nowhere, let's say, in the woods with birds and ducks, the smell of pine and grass chasing you around with little distraction. Is the writer more effective if he is by the salty waters of the atlantic ocean with the sound of the big waves and sea eagles over your head. Does it help you to write if you are in a place where, there's just you and nature? Do you hear the voice in your head more clearly?

Can someone please write on this topic, maybe you know of some authors who live in the metro area who take advante of this gift of nature and strech their mind and pen stuff out..

I penned my debut novel while I was in the middle of chemotherapy for breast cancer. The book was recently published and is being cited for "lush, beautiful imagery." (ForeWord Magazine May/June 06.)

The voice in your head is what counts. And...more than anything, hard work.

Believe me, constant nausea and sessions in the chemotherapy infusion room did nothing to inspire me. On the other hand, once I published the novel and was in recovery, I decided to h*** with it, chucked my previous career and moved to a pole house on the ocean on the north side of Kauai. These days I watch whales breach from the room in which I write.

Just get on with it, amateur writer. No excuses.

Talent. It's all about talent. I know it's unfair. Some, of course, are more talented than others. And there are those without any talent. Since you live so close to the literary agent mecca of the country, Manhattan, try to find an agent. Best way is to dazzle the agent with your talent. As far as schools, try Rutgers. I'm sure that university has many creative writing classes.

Many writers have found their heavens in quit areas as well as city areas. That depend on what kind of environment you like. The best advice is to be concentrated on the writing eq be alone and dont have other distorcions like phones. But the best advice is to choise a couple of hours or whatewer you fel you can have as writing hour and then write on a regular basis. Also it helps to have a noteblock where you can write down your ideas when you get them and then put it down on paper or computer when its time to write. But the best advice for a writer is to write as much as you can. That will help both the quality off your writing and the ideas you get. And dont remember to have fun! Johan
