dont people realize that when you live your life one day at a time hell one minuet at a time what ever upset you or hurt you before cant do it again

Becuase some people prefer the past it may have been a simpler time for them. They feel safe and secure in the past they may have greater control of themsleves and their surroundings. Its all about comfort levels and we all have our own levels. They flow and ebb around us and change all the time. I'm sure there are time when everyone has reflected on the past and said things were better then.
