This is the "baptism" statement he put in one of this character's mouths...
“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’ ”

Good man and a good writer. Like other people, I thought of him as a modern-day Mark Twain. He was a decent guy who told the truth and didn't apologize for it. I think it's a sad thing for him to have died during a time when his country had fallen so low.
The world is a poorer place without him.

Oh, I love him. His writing was part of what inspired me to study English in college; it kept me sane in high school and keeps me sane today. I'm writing my master's thesis on him - ironically enough, on the significance of death in his short stories.
I will soon make him a memorial on my wall. And perhaps plant him some flowers. He would say, like his Uncle Alex, "If this isn't nice, I don't know what is."

Sad that he died, but not really a fan of his work. I like that he included tidbits of his life in his books though.
