I would venture to declare that the only way for you to understand what it's like to be a woman is to be one, or at least pass as one. You can read books until your eyes fall out and interview women until you're blue in the face, but you won't *really* know unless you walk a proverbial mile in our shoes.

You didn't mention why you want to know, but if it's for professional reasons, I think it might be worth the trouble and expense of an excellent disguise. You'd need the clothes, makeup, falsies, wig, shoes, vocal coaching, acting lessons, the works. Alter your appearance and your mannerisms so that you can pass for a woman and live a day or a week as one. Pay attention to ways people treat you that are different from the ways they treat you as a man. You will probably be very surprised at the differences gender can make in your daily life.

Yes, I've tried to really understand men, and why most of them don't like to communicate with women (we communicate differently) and I've understood why a old bf of mine and I had such a bad relationship because he didn't want to *communicate* and I did. Men are socialized to be strong and silent, and if they expose their emotional feelings, they're accused of acting like women. They're supposed to keep all of their emotional stuff on the inside and never let it out because that's the "macho" way. Your question is a really wide spread one. You need to be more specific. What would you LIKE to understand what it's like to be a woman?

You'll never understand it. Even most women don't understand it. A good half of them admit they have no clue what they want.

Read the book "What men understand about women". It is about 1,095 pages long and they are all blank.
