They will eat the babies if they can fit them in their mouths. The only solution would be to seperate them or return the babies.

Don't worry about the babies. If they do get eaten, they weren't strong enough to survive. A word of caution, though; tetras are very prone to eating the tail fins of guppies and killing them, so I wouldn't suggest keeping them together.

If you really do want the babies to survive, put some plants (plastic or live) in the tank, to offer them a place to hide. The babies will most likely swim around the surface, so make sure the plants are nice and tall. You could also put them in a nursery, but they grow faster when they have a lot of room to swim.

get the babies and transfer them to a new tank. make sure you get water from your old tank to lessen the chances of stress for the babies. feed them proper baby flakes and in a few months you could already add them to your tank.

take the babies out and put them in another aquarium if possible, if not, bring them back to the store. ( preferably other than wal-mart... )

or you can get a breeding net, or plexiglass to split the aquarium to seperate the tetras and the guppies...

Ps. wal-mart is crap at keeping pets...
