you may need more ram.
or... your hard drive could be crashing, very common in laptops.
if your computer makes a rapid clicking noise during startup, its the hard drive, replace it.

Well... the fan may still spin, but that doesn't mean the laptop is not still overheating. Make sure you use some compressed air inside the vents of the laptop to clean any dust off the heatsink.
Dust in the vents severely reduces the cooling ability of the laptop.
Other than that, does it always freeze at 5 minutes? or does it happen when you do something specific?

If it's not the hardware it has to be the software. You should try scanning for spyware in safe mode, if you scan in the normal startup chances are you won't find all of the files infected on your computer. It could also be because you're trying to run a program thats your computer doesn't have the physical capacity for.

It could be you CPU. When the CPU(Central Preocessing Untit) gets to hot it shuts itself down and you are stuck looking at what was on the moniter when it shut down. It also could be the hard driive or you need more RAM(Random Access Memory)

Lol? Freezes, i guess is the word you were looking for, all you gotta do is reformat , and install again. this is most likely spyware.
If not, your motherboard or processor may be damaged.
Kernel Leaks may cuase this damage.
BTW (*Kernel is the system :-) *)

If all that has truly been checked then it is either the motherboard or the bios. I would check and see if there are any bios updates for it. If not I would replace the motherboard

Could be a RAM issue...try running MemTest86 on it. It could also be overheating...check your temperatures with SpeedFan. Or, it could be a driver conflict or software problem.
