1988 honda accord transmission does not have reverse or 4th gear

Is the problem that you cannot get the shifter into those gears or that when you shift into those gears nothing happens? How are the other gears? Where is the clutch engaging? There is a good chance that the clutch is worn out. You can check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder to see if the level is low. You can top it off if that's the case but usually the reason that the fluid is low is from clutch disc wear. I would suspect the clutch is worn out because that is all that reverse and fourth gears have in common. either way, it looks like the transmission will have to come out to fix it in the long term. if the fluid is low adding fluid may get you back in the ball game in the short term.

There are quite a few sturdy on line cost publications on your used motor vehicle cost. yet be truthful including your assessment of the vehicle and don't assume to get plenty for a 10 year old motor vehicle. In my section (Georgia) a 1988 Honda is worth approximately $one thousand.

There is no way to try and fix it just replace or rebuild it.Honda made them non servicable trannys.

have trans rebuilt or buy used one and be sure to buy new clutch set and replace pilot bushing
