I just happen to not like country music, but unlike most people I understand people have their own opinions & different tastes which is fine, too many people let music define them..by looking at me you would totally not be able to guess what type of music I listen to, that's because I am myself...& if you are a true lover of music then you have to at least like a tiny bit of everything, even if you don't want to own up to it...but that's my opinion.

It's just stereo-types; people tend to make fun and put down things they can't relate to. Country music has that kind of image of songs being about drinkin', cheatin', trucks & so on, sung by guys in cowboy hats. Not completely true but it doesn't help that the country music industry doesn't exactly do anything to change that image. It's kind of the same thing with rap music with the typical bling, guns & loose women (watching my language there) image; it's easy to make fun if you're not a fan of it. There's certainly nothing wrong with country music itself though; it's just like any other genre, there's great songs, ok ones and others that are just terrible; I like it myself.

i understand. i grew up in the south, and i only listen to country music, because it is clean, i let my kids listen to it. they never wanted to listen to anything else. its safe for me to leave on in the car so i don't have to worry what they will repeat.

They put it down because most of the songs are so cliche it kills them. I managed to fit just about every country song (with a few exceptions) into 3 categories: love songs (either about a woman/man or the country you love), funny songs, or depressing songs

Where to start? Inbred idiots write and "sing" it. It is very stale as a genre. None of it is even remotely original anymore (thank you to all the Garth wannabes.) It has no melody. There are maybe 3 people that actually write the songs. It leads to incest (kind of like NASCAR.) It comes in 4 subjects: drunks, adultery, dogs, and pick up trucks.

Any more questions about this garbage?

Don't get me wrong I like the older Country & Western from before Garth Brooks and the 1 million clones since him.
