Jimmy Carter. He worked toward peace in the mideast between Isreal and Egypt. He also was active in amnesty international after leaving teh white house and a founder of the habitat for humanity programs. He believe the United States had a duty and obligation to hold the standard and be a leader in human right in its representation around teh world and in its foreing polocy actions. In 1980 he cancelled USA participation in the summer Olympics in protest of Russias invasion of afghanastan.

The Carter Administration ended support to the historically U.S.-backed Somoza dictatorship in Nicaragua and gave aid to pro-U.S. factions of the Sandinista National Liberation Front Revolution after Somoza had been overthrown
