it depends on each actor, some use tricks onions on hankers etc while others use cry on demand which is usually took at acting classes etc, their are easier tricks like, staring at a point without blanking or using emotional points in your own life.

In theatre actors really do cry! We are taught in either acting class or college to "cry on demand". Basically we just get emotional over a thought, or event in our lifetime and get workep up and - out come the tears!
In film - i figure it works the same way, but I'm not exactly sure!!

i've got taken performing instructions for terribly almost 2 years and it truly is extremely perplexing to cry. maximum actors use eyedrops, however the solid actors, the truly solid actors get so wrapped up of their character that they are in a position to sense their character's emotions as their very very own, and so are in a position to cry authentic tears. I cried in simple terms as quickly as in a scene i develop into performing to the class. It took me a jiffy to recuperate and quit crying. So if are ever finding for a powerful actor, supply them a scene the place their meant to cry and see if their in a position to.

Some of it is pretending with glycerin tears and red noses from makeup but part of the training is to be able to conjure up the feelings needed to portray the scene. Maybe they remember a time when they were sad in their life and try to recreate that and bring on the true emotion.

usually yes... at least the good ones can and do.
I was always told that acting is simply living truthfully under the given or imaginary circumstances... meaning that if the moment is really sad and you would cry in real life, then you would indeed cry in the "acting" moment as well.
(I hope that makes sense) Most actors will also draw from their real lives... remembering very sad or very happy times and allow themselves to revisit those moment in order to get the desired emotion they want.

This varies from actor to actor. Some have special tricks, for example, things they think of to make them cry.

Some do and others don't. As a theater studet we really have to cry. We were always taught to think of the worst thing that ever happned to us. That dosen't always work though and I find it destracting. A friend of mine taught me to put my finger over my tear duct and then rub across like your wipeing a tear out of your eye. Instant tears.

Really good actors can make themselves cry literally, but if an actor has that sad, tortured, pathetic look, they can be convincing!
