I'm pretty sure its algae. The best way to prevent algae is keep your tank away from direct sunlight and don't leave the aquarium light on for too long. I normally keep mine on for about 6 hours. Buy a algae eater but do not buy medication because its a possibility that it could kill your fish. Also you can scrub the tank with a algae scrub brush.

The brown stuff is probably just algae. The problem is that your fish isn't producing enough slime to coat his scales. Fish need this slime in order to thrive and remain healthy. This could be because the tank is becoming overrun with algae and filth. Clean the tank thouroughly and pick up some supplies at your local pet store. You will need some slime coat, a pH test kit to make sure your tank always has the right pH levels. Also invest in a good filter if you plan on keeping fish, I like Penguin filters the best. The last thing is that you should have something to push air into the tank so that the water does not remain stagnant, and it also maintains the O2 levels. With all of these maintained, your fish should remain healthy as long as they also have the right diet.

The brown stuff is algae in the tank and it's not a problem except for appearances, but it is an indicator that you have high nitrates in the tank. This can also cause the lose of shine you have noticed on your fish. A good 25% water change every day for 3-4 days in a row will fix the water problem. It will take careful tank cleaning for the next few weeks to get everything back to normal.

Oh no, I think they have the ick. it killed all my fish in the aquarium, and even when you change out the water, if you put the pebbles toys or whatever back in it can transfer. There is a way to treat the tank, but I don't know if you can save the fish. Like I said all mine died because one was infected when I got it. You could call a vet and see if theres a treatment, but do it quickly.

if you're biking with fish you may want to be doing water transformations at the same time as the ammonia has better to keep from killing the fish. this explains why they decreased in length ich in the first position. DO the water substitute as said on the med bottle. the remedy will no longer set your tank lower back in any respect. Ich is a parasite no longer a bacterial an infection. NO you do not get yet another filter out. only get rid of the CARBON out of your filter out positioned it in a plastic air tight bag and positioned it in the frig. once you're achieved treating for ich you want to characteristic the carbon filter out lower back for your tank to get rid of the meds from the tank. it really is largely the only purpose for carbon in a filter out. you want to study the instructions on the bottle of ich meds you've. if it said to do a water substitute or your checks are coming lower back extreme ammonia do the water substitute previous to treating the tank.

the brown spots are probably because your tank is dirty and you should clean it before your fish really gets sick
