A few months ago, a container I was using to transport diesel fuel failed, and leaked inside my vehicle. This is an old vehicle used to transport work eqt. Although I was able to soak up the spill with newspaper and rags, the smell remains. I have tried washing the fabric carpet/ventilating the vehicle. Does anyone have any good methods for getting the smell out of the car? The smell is still quite strong, and makes carrying passengers impossible...not to mention giving the driver a headache.

Thank you everyone!

If you are not going to use the car, you can try leaving a can of vinegar (exposed) in it. Or you can try putting a canister with charcoal (uncovered) in it to absorb the smell.

I worked for a man one time that used to use DREFT, baby laundry soap, when cleaning carpets, and upholstery,in cars, and it use to clean real good, and it' got a good smell, that will overwhelm the smell of diesel ! Try it , it might help you!
