Not an easy question to answer... but there must be something(s) that sparked such intense hatred. We never hear about why 'The Terrorists' want to kill us in the first place. Is it aid to Israel... meddling in their holy land... a mixture of both? There must be some diplomatic type solution to the root of the problem.. anything but an endless war.

Terrorists don't have such easy laws in their own country. They don't have such beautiful women and men ofcourse. They don't even have the law "don't ask don't see" something like that. Where in the world does the dogs have such a beautiful Mistresses sleeping besides them. These are some of the things they hate and wants to end them.

Well, in a sense you are asking the wrong questionn. The terrorists--the leadership, not the people they con into blowing themselves up--are politicalopportunists after power. Also sociopaths, obviously.

The right question is why are enough otherwise normal people willing to support them to give them the means to do so much damage??

And there, you are partly correct. But there are other reasons as well. For example, the Iranians still harbor resentment over the US overthrow of their democratic government in the 1950s, after which we installed the Shah as dictator. Another example: a lot of moderate Arabs have reconciled themselves to Israel's right to exist. But as long as Israel continues settlements on Palestinian land, and the US supprts Israel, they are going to resent us.

When you combine such feelings with poverty and limited opportunities in these countries, you have a population that is ripe for manipulation by demagogues--including the terrorist organizations.

As usual, the idiotic 'parrots' are answering. (spewing)

You are spot on.
Until we seriously look the reason(s) for their anger, we can expect more attacks.
As you mentioned, the creation of Israel is the main cause.
Israel has to seek acceptance from its neighbours, on its knees if necessary.

Many people say that 'they' don't treat their women with the necessary respect, but neither do we. Have a look at the porn sites on the Internet. Everybody (even kids) have access to them. It's disgusting how men (mainly American, but all Western) degrade women. I am not talking about sites where 'consensual' sex is shown, if one wants to watch two people going at it, that's your right.
We preach to them about 'morals', yet Rap and Hip Hop artists are allowed to say anything they like.
They see us as the worst form of hypocrites, and we are in part to blame.
Add to all these 'gripes' the actions of dear Mr Bush, and you have an explosive situation which can only be addressed by talk and compromise. We can't wish them and their hatred away.
Thank God there is a real possibility that the Democrats will take over the White House and both houses of Congress with decisive majorities. Maybe some sanity will prevail at last.

Guys, terrorists are all about the wielding of power. It has NOTHING to do with 'freedom fighting' or the want of their own nationality, it's simply about power. If someone has something that the other wants and can't have, he uses force, right? Well if that someone isn't strong enough, they resort to fear and terror and the spreading of the same. Has Palestine been resurrected through terrorism? No. Has Northern Ireland been joined to the Republic of Ireland? No. The only way you get anywhere anymore is through politics, detente and peaceful negotiations. The terrorism that's going on in the Middle East is based on the grab for power, simple as that.

Its all about religious reasons. The US supports their enemy from from 2000 years ago.
The Balfour declaration gave gave Israel land that belonged to the Palestinians.
One of Islams holiest places is in Jerusalem.

its complicated... but it is centred around Israel and US support for them.

We're infidels in their minds. Having Israel doesn't help, but it's not the root cause.

Look at the penalties in certain Muslim countries for homosexuality, theivery, drinking alcohol, and attitudes towards women.

In some countries, apotatsty (that is, renouncing Islam) is punishable by death.

Nothing happens in the West today if you decide you don't want to go to church or synagogue.

The answer is easier than you think... We are not Muslim.. Period thats it.. Nothing more.. This is the same thing Thomas Jefferson was told by Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja "Islam was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise."
Welcome to Ji had.

Terrorism is not new. Terrorism against the US and Britian by muslims has been going on for decades. Our country has sponsored terrorism in other countries and created much unrest in other parts of the world. Israel is only part of it. We have explioted other countries and sought privatization of other countrys resources for American corporations to profit from. There are many books on the subject. Economic Hitman is one that comes to mind right now. Ever wonder why we don't rush to help people being slaughtered in poor countrys that have no great natural resources? Follow the money, that's where your answer will be. I'm glad you said terrorists and not Muslims, I don't believe Islam is all bad, just like we have Christians like the KKK and Timothy McViegh.

The problem is complex and there really is no diplomatic solution to the issues because the only solution that Muslims will accept is the Islamic solution without compromise.

There are several reasons that Muslims have animosity against the West. The reasons range from the Balfour declaration of 1917 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balfour_Declaration_of_1917
The League of Nations Palestine Mandate of 1922
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1922_Text:_League_of_Nations_Palestine_Mandate
and the 1947 UN Partition plan to form Israel
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1947_UN_Partition_Plan
There are also issues with the petroleum industry and the support of leaders such as the Shah of Iran.

Even if these historical events did not occur, Islam does not tolerate people from other religions. Islam has a strict code of dress and conduct and Muslims want to keep those standards. Muslims do not approve of the morality and fashion of Western society.

In Islam, there is a vast difference between the believer (Muslim) and unbeliever (Kufar/infidel). This comprises the two categories of the Dar ul Islam (realm of Islam) and Dar ul Harb (realm of battle).

Those who kill shouting "Allahu akbar" are killing in the name of Allah, for the sake of Allah, according to the rules of engagement of the Qur'an. = mujahid (pl. mujahideen) can include clerics or professors who incite followers to jihad. It is not hatred that drives the Muslim to kill non-Muslims but rather religious zeal.

Muslims who aid and abet the "fighter" (mujahid) have nearly the same status and reward as the mujahid.

There is an obligation of Muslims to rid the world of fitnah....

Qur'an Surah Al-Anfãl (8):39
So fight them (unbelievers) until there is no more fitnah (disbelief or worship of any god but Allah) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)" ...

For example, the preamble to the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran states: "The Assembly of Experts for Constitution...fram[ed] the Constitution...[after input] by the government...with the hope that this century will witness the establishment of a universal holy government and the downfall of all others."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_constitution#Preamble

Qur'an [Surah al-Hujurat (49):15]
Mumim (true Muslims) believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), and without doubt they strive in the cause of Allah( jihad fee Sybil Allah) with their wealth and their lives. Those! They are the sincere.

Not all Muslims blow up things, yet "jihad in the cause of Allah" "jihad fee sybil Allah" is "fard ayn" "compulsory duty" for all Muslims. Why? There are rules from the Quran for combattive jihad.

Among observant Muslims there are those who:
a) jihad in the path of Allah with their wealth and their lives (including those who sit at home but give asylum to mujahidin Qur'an 4:76, 8:74, 49:15) = true Muslim
b) those who sit at home (and do not give asylum to mujahidin or jihad in the path of Allah)
c) the handicapped (does not count as a category)

Mohhamad Bin Ahmad Al-Salem compiled 39 principles of jihad from the Qur'an. You may wish to read the English translation at this website.
http://www.intelligence.org.il/eng/var/39p_e.htm

Another set of documents that may help you to understand Muslims can be found here:
http://english.nctb.nl/publications/reports/aivd/

You may understand Muslims from the perspective of an Egyptian who came to study in Colorado. Qutb was extremely critical of many things in the US: its racism, materialism, individual freedom, economic system, poor haircuts, triviality, restrictions on divorce, enthusiasm for sports, "animal-like" mixing of the sexes (which went on even in churches), and lack of support for the Palestinian struggle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qutb

When you hear crowds of Muslims chanting, "Death to America" you may understand that everyone who is not a Muslim is part of the Dar ul Harb (realm of war).

It seems they hate us due to a mixture of their fanatical religious beliefs and jealousy. Their religion tells them that our way of life is evil and "the infidels" should all be killed. Killing us sends them straight to heaven. On the other hand---you know they wish they had our freedom and fun-loving lifestyles. The women look miserable and the men look so angry. Now...does anyone really think you can reason with this bunch???
