The beginning of this phenom was begat in 1844, in Vicksburg Mississippi, when newly purchased slave Leroy Hutchins (previously "Brombone,") slew field foreman, Ronal "Hog-leg" Whitticker with a hatchet. The plantation owner held an unofficial hearing before Hutchins was hung from an old oak tree behind the stables, when he wanted to know what started the incident, Leroy stated that he just "wanted to ax him somethin'."

If you were to travel to each of the U.S.
coast and you had a list of common words
you will find that each coast has its own pronunciation of said word
or you could go north or south
or the Midwest

Now on another note
There are some people who have difficulty speaking, anywhere from a speech impediment to people who are hard of hearing.
Or even learning disabilities.
