Pay attention to your breathing when dancing, especially to exhale. People never forget to inhale when they dance, but often fail to exhale. Make sure you're not tensing up your shoulders or your neck, because this usually contributes to breathing issues. Another thing - you might need to get fitter.

focus on breathing while you dance. some people have the habit of holding their breath when dancing. also try doing more cardiovascular work outs. tybo is actually a great one for dancers. only if this doesn't work should you go see someone like a doctor about it.

if you arent getting cramps when you dance; its just hard to breathe; then i would see a doctor and have him check for asthma.

if you ARE getting cramps in your sides and near your heart; you just might not be used to excersising as much.

your lungs and heart is muscles, so the more you use them the stronger they get! cardio activity [such as cycling] is good for building up the strentgh you need for dance!

however; if you are a few pounds heavier then healthy, this could be the problem, too. if so, just work out!
