I recieve SSI disability And was wondering do i have to file taxes?

Yes. it depends on ow much you received. Also, this is usually used for information purposes by the IRS. it helps identify any fraudulent schemes by agencies too.

SSI is not taxable, SSDI may be depending on your total income. SSI is based on financial need and anyone who qualifies can receive it. It is treated similar to welfare payments for tax purposes. SSDI benefits are based on prior employement and social security taxes paid, only those who paid into the system for at least a minimum time period can claim it. SSDI is treated like regular social security benefits for tax purposes.

I can tell you that my brother is on the same thing. They sent him a form to fill out and if it is over a certain amount then you will have to do it. But you can also call your local SS office and speak with them and they will let you know.

YES, you need to file it. If you get any kind of income for anything or any place for any reason whether your working or not, it needs to be reported.
