I am taking Harley Davidson's Rider's Edge Course this weekend and was wondering what exactly to expect?

I took the course last year. It was very enlightning to say the least. What to expect...learn to ride, respect the bike, respect of other riders, more confidence than those that haven't taken the course, strength in yourself as a woman for completing it (although we are the growing trend in riders).
What I didn't expect was that I would become a better driver as a whole, that my awareness of others on the road is much sharper.
GO GIRL...enjoy it....

I don't know about that particular course - I took the one through MSF.

I would imagine you'll be driving a small bike. You'll have some actual driving time and some classroom time. You'll probably be required to wear boots and provide your own jacket, helmet and gloves.

In class, you might not get any higher than 2d gear - maybe 3rd. You'll do some riding in circles, some riding in a straight line for braking and veering practice. Some weaving around cones.

If you already know how to work a clutch in a car, you'll have a slight advantage over those who don't - but if you don't have that experience, no worries. It's not rocket science!

The class will likely run for something like a month, on weekend days. You'll be riding around in a parking lot probably.

You'll likely be asked to get your temps - or maybe you have to have that before you start the class, I'm not sure.

If it's like the MSF course, if you pass their test, you won't have to take a road test to get your license, although you'll still have to go in for the written portion.

Good luck, enjoy, and welcome to the road!

This is just a quick blip to that misinformed snob, mbracing168.
If Harley's are so slow, why is it, the other day on the Discovery Channel doing a show on the V-Rod (that IS a Harley, right?), mentioned that there's a V-Rod that the factory made, that is the FASTEST FACTORY MADE DRAG BIKE IN THE WORLD! Too slow (yeah, right) for you I guess.
It gets kinda old listening to these wet behind the ears rice riders, talk about their speed machines, and probably never have ran more than 1/2 throttle.

The one in my area uses buell 250s. They will take you from the very basic up through some good street handling skills.
To MBracing, my 1200R will do 140. Do you know of any public road where that is too slow? I'm sure your bike is fine but don't be a snob about it.

The AMA wrote an article about the MSF course and what to expect. Enjoy your course.
