Nearly every culture has had an element that has disrespected another culture at some time. To blame this on the skin color of the oppressor is exactly the problem. It's not a lie, but it's a broad generalization. There have been segments of each of these societies that have disrespected/oppressed other cultures AND their own culture. The cause was ignorance coupled with insecurity (or some form of derivative superiority complex), not skin color.

Blaming the lack or addition of pigmentation is completely ridiculous. No matter when or where the claim is presented.

The reality is that when really lousy people, with really screwed up ideas, organized into large mobs of the 'united asinine' the result is never good. It should be embarrassing to all humanity. A lot of people get hurt and it's up to us to work TOGETHER to see that history doesn't repeat itself. Or at the very least, that we don't stand on the sidelines and feign ignorance.

SOME white people have disrespected blacks in the US. That's true. I grew up in the southern US and I saw racial discimination on a daily basis. Let's be clear that the slave trade companies were based in New York City. I say that because of the elitist attitude of Northerners.

But I am white, and I was disciminated against by SOME blacks while growing up. Some blacks hated whites.

I believe it's two things: Ignorance and how one is raised. If white children are raised to hate "ni**ers" then they will (unless they are smart enough to see past their parents' prejudices). If black children are raised to see whites as oppressive assho*es, then they will unless they are able to see past their parents' prejudices.

It takes personal intelligence, education, and interaction with other cultures to see that people are people. People have a choice - to be prejudiced or not. I believe the KKK goobers and Nation of Islam make the choice to be hateful - no one is forcing them.

oh please............this is a tired, worn out, sorry excuse for blacks to p-iss and moan about having nothing, and make no effort to help themselves. we can learn from our past, but to continually use it as an excuse for all the ills in your life is lame and pathetic.
and you know what? i am tired of hearing what all our ancestors were doing a hundred years ago. give it up.
who cares anymore? we have enough problems in the present and we should focus on the future. looking back solves nothing, just keeps the hate going!
if you don't have the life you want get a friggin' job and make an effort! i'm tired of the government handing everything to people based on how loud their 'reverends' and their 'leaders' squawk.
and before you jump on my back about generalizing in my answer, you are generalizing in your question.

100? Try 400-500 years. The first African slaves were imported in 1502.

YES to all. it is not a lie. I admit my sin.
but remember he who lives in a glass house, should not throw stones. black people who had control of their area
enslaved their black brothers into slavery. for money. why don't you e-mail them, and tell that new generation of masters what they did was wrong.
when you buy gas at a gas station, don't blame the guy who bought the petrol for the price per gal. the seller is to blame.

So true. It amazes me that they are still complaining after they have taken advantage of and abused practically all the other races to get what they have.. They sicken me. What else do they want. They already spilled our blood so we can't say blood. Maybe they're aiming for our souls.

some white people, yes, for about 400 years, actually. The percentages are debatable at any given time.
