No it is not correct here are the rules A player gets out of Jail by...
(1) Throwing doubles on any of your next three turns,
if you succeed in doing this you immediately move forward the number of spaces shown by your doubles throw. Even though you had thrown doubles, you do not take another turn.
(2) Using the "Get Out of Jail Free Card"
(3) Purchasing the "Get Out of Jail Free Card" from another player and playing it.
(4) Paying a fine of $50 before you roll the dice on either of your next two turns. If you do not throw doubles by your third turn, you must pay the $50 fine. You then get out of Jail and immediately move forward the number of spaces shown by your throw.
Even though you are in Jail, you may buy and sell property, buy and sell houses and hotels and collect rents. ''Hope that helps.''

Your husband was wrong. You should have rolled the dice immediately and proceeded (this is assumes that you have not already roll the dice this turn). The rules, which can be found at www.hasbro.com under customer service, will support me.
Sidebar: I am constantly amazed how Monopoly brings out the worst in people. I quote Chief Wiggum of "The Simpsons" when I say, "How do those Parker Brothers sleep at night?"

You have 3 chances to roll a double if you don't roll a double on your 1st 2ND or 3rd try. You automatically get out. Of course you can pay The fine.

It all depends on what version of the game you play, and what rules you decide to follow. There have been times when I've played the game that our family decided to add the "Free Parking" rule: Whenever a person has to pay something, the money goes on the "free parking" space on the board, and the player who lands on the free parking space gets to keep the money that was collected on that space. I hope this helps to answer your question!!!

Yes. it is.
But you also can continue rolling doubles until the third unsuccessful roll, then pay to get out of jail and move according to what the third unsuccessful roll reads.

I think you have to make some rules clear at the beginning of play. As people have different interruption of the rules.
Some computer games you move when you paid the fine some you don't.

You have to get alteast one tattoo first, then they just let you out to scare all the little old ladies. Stay out of the tattoo section with your bible thumping.
