my female betta has this white spot that is protruding from right underneath her belly. it's extremely small, but i'm certain it wasn't there before. she's also not eating normally--she'll take food, swallow it, but then it looks like she's gagging and spits it back out. otherwise she's acting completely normal and happy, swimming around and making bubble nests.
maybe it's a tumor? can fish get tumors?
anyone have any ideas on what's up?

what magic man said is exactly what my betta has.
so i guess she's carrying eggs. if there's no male betta around, she won't drop the eggs right? so what happens now?

I think what you are seeing is the ovipositor. Is it in the same place as the spot under this fish?

If so that just means she's carrying eggs and is ready to breed.

To be honest if it is a small spot dont worry unless he starts acting sick. As for spitting out food also dont worry they do it all the time - just means they are not hungry or somthing is making it taste bad for them - it completly normal. Just keep an eye on him but im sure he wil be fine.

sounds like ick. You can cure it with drops they sell at pet stores.

It could be dropsy or a tumor. Some tumors are harmless... some are not so harmless.
