cuz when my parents are watching TV they can tell if a person is gay right away. how do they do it?

At times it is easy to determine if someone is gay or not, easy to pick out boys then it is girls, by wether they are open with thier sexuality or closed, still in the closet so to speak. Some people claim that they have "gaydar", cute name, but in all honesty there is no such thing it is just a random 50/50 guess if the guy is gay or not, usually determined by thier actions | body language | hand signals(im guilty of that one) | vocal attributes(girly type voices) | and just thier random personality or attitude. Although you can pick up on these traits(probably what your parents saw) but there are those who hide thier sexuality from those around them for the sake of not letting them know, in that case its hard to tell if they are or not. Even though everyone wants to have the power to determine who is gay or not its just a random guess, and even I don't guess correctly all the time(and thats embarassing. Good luck.

They're teaching you to buy into a stereotype. You can't tell if a person is or is not gay by the way they act or talk any more than you can tell if a person is Jewish; yeah, a few may resemble the stereotype, but bear in mind that many of the people that your parents assume are straight- because they don't "act gay"- are in fact gay, and some of those that they tell you are gay are in fact straight.

Your parents would only like to believe that they have some sort of magic power to point out ALL gay people correctly. BUT they dont. No one does. Some gay people claim to have gaydar, & i will admit that us gay people can figure out whether or not someone else is gay a little better than everyone else, BUT we still dont nail it on the head 100% of the time.

Their way is a 50/50 chance! The only way to know for sure is to ask someone. And depending on how comfortable they are with themselves as gay, and how out they are, may or may not come clean with it. Normally an open gay will be honest with you providing that it is a safe environment to do so.

Some gay people have a stereotyped behaviour, but mostly you can't tell, your parents understand if a person is gay only when it's pretty evident.

If they are talking about actors... that sort of info is everywhere. If regular people... again, that sort of information is everywhere... literally. The best example is where you are right now: the Internet. It's a global world.
Other than that, some people are so blantantly gay it would be hard NOT to know.

Although sometimes you can tell if a person is gay, you should never EVER judge a person by their cover.

a)affected speech and body language.a lot of gays advertise with affectations.
b)to tell if someone's gay just point at them in a crowd and yell " HEY He's Gay!"

And they know their guesses are correct how? Only the person knows if he or she is homosexual or not. There are no reliable "signs". It's simply a matter of who you are attracted to, and only the person would know that.
