Yes to both. And both are very good things to do post-bankrutpcy. Get the savings account first and the checking account next. And use debit cards instead of credit cards

Federal bankruptcy laws do not effect bank accounts. I went through it 6-years ago and still have checking and savings accounts, same as I did when I filed.

Bankruptcy should have no effect on checking or savings accounts. It only damages your credit. Banks will still be more than happy to accept your money and business.

That is not a problem, you can get savings and checking accounts as long as you have money to deposit.

This web site lists banks in all states that don't use Chexsystems or have "second chance" checking accounts. Its how we found our bank.
