There is also something called a chemical pregnancy that you should tak to your doctor about. Sperm hits the eg and fertalizes it, but it never implants on the uterine wall. Unfortunately it comes out on your next period. This is acyaully the cause of most "false positives" that people talk about.

At one time-you couldn't test even if you wanted to as early as we can nowadays. You had to wait couple weeks after a missed period for the positive answer at home. However, today you can test as early as four to five days before you missed. Which is awesome to know that you are pregnant, but there is downside to this. It is known as chemical pregnancy. Chemical pregnancy are common; generally up to 50 to 60 percent of all first pregnancies end in miscarriage--usually too early for the mother to know. With HPT's becoming more sensitive, we know about more of these early miscarriages than before. It normal to have chemical pregnancy-from someone who has personally gotten excited just see the period start after yes-my recommendation-if you are testing early stop-and wait that additional week.

You REALLY need to see a doctor! Either you are getting pregnant and miscarrying, having a period while pregnant, OR the other possibility is that you have ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer mimicks HCG hormone and can give a false positive on a hpt so you REALLY need to talk to your dr ASAP because any of the above thigns need to be addressed by a doctor.

Pregnancy tests are used to determine a certain hormone that develops when your pregnant. I have heard you can have false negatives but not false positives. It has been known to get periods while pregnant. My aunt got her period til she was 7 mths along and then found out she was nearly due to have a baby. I would suggest to see your doctor.

It is possible you could have a hormone variation that is producing a false reading, but purplebinky is also right that your period can occur during the earliest part of pregnancy.

you can still experience bleeding LIKE a period for the first couple of months or it may last through out your whole pregnancy.. You should go to the doctors and get a blood test or an ultrasound to make sure you are indeed pregnant.

Nope. But, it is very possible to get your period while you are pregnant, especially in the early months. The first time I got pregnant, I didn't know for almost 3 months because I continued having my periods!
