Do storm shelters work?
Have you been through a storm in which you used your shelter?
Please tell me you story, I need testimonies for a speech that I am giving in about two hours.

lmao waiting 2 hours before. anyway, I lived through a direct hit by Hurricane Charley 8-13-04. I was working at a storm shelter for special needs people. they were on oxygen and/or in wheelchairs. we lost power and the generator didn't work. the wind was blowing the rain sideways and cars were bouncing up and down. debris was flying all over. no one really planned for it, so there was little or no food or water. the toilets didn't work. the next day, they moved us to another building which was then struck by lightning and caught fire. there wasn't any place to let them stay, so they were taken to another county. our other shelter had about 1200 people in it. the roof started to come off and half the building collapsed. they had to leave their belongings, join hands, and walk the length of a football field to the high school. that roof was partially blown off, but stayed on enough to shelter the people. half the county was made homeless in an hour or so. some still don't have their roofs repaired. the Army came in and helped organize relief efforts. some people had no electricity for a month. water had to be boiled for 3-4 weeks. the other hurricanes that came close to us just made things worse. more rain through holes in roofs, ruined furniture, old people getting hurt or having heart attacks trying to clean up their yards, debris in every street, curfew from 7PM til 7AM.
